Modernizing my life

I'm an old fashioned kind of girl. I've always been partial to the "log cabin" look of my home. But I've often thought about doing my home in a more modernized look. Something with a little more sophistication and class to it. So I decided to start looking at some modern furniture.

I found some pretty cool things, and a few things that were way beyond my taste. I'm not really into all that geometrical stuff, but I did see some beautiful leather beds that looked pretty nice. That's something I could definately get into. They also had a couple really cute nightstands that would look good in my house as it is.

I'm never going to be the kind of person who goes totally modern. But I now know that there are some really nice modern pieces out there that match my taste in furnishings. Maybe my taste is a little more sophisticated than I thought.

Longest week ever

This last week has been the longest one ever for me. I've spent the past week helping my mother move from a big house she's lived in for the past 15 years, into a little 2 bedroom trailer. I told her she needed to downsize before we started moving her, but she didn't get rid of near enough stuff.

I took it upon myself to move most of the big stuff for her, and now I'm paying for it. Guess what! I'm not as young as I used to be. I found out that I've got muscles that I haven't used for a long time, and I hurt bad. I lifted a desk, a big overstuffed rocking chair, several kitchen chairs, and even several dressers. I feel like I got hit by a mack truck.

My sister has been living with my mom for the past few months, trying to help her out with bills and that kind of thing. So, not only did I have to move my mom's stuff, but my sister's as well. I had no idea one person could stash so much crap into one little bedroom. Nor did I know that my little pick up could carry so much stuff. I think the box of my truck is slightly wider than it used to be.

But, we finally got them both moved into their new house. It makes me feel a little better as she's a little closer to me now, and with my sister there, I don't have to worry about her being all alone. But I swear that if she decides to move again, I'm renting a U-Haul.

Search Engine For Shoppers

I'm always looking for new ways of shopping online. Since I first began writing about buying and selling online, I've tried to find the easiest ways of getting exactly what you want. Then I ran across a site called ShopWiki.com and soon realized that I wasn't finding all the online stores with great deals.

This is a great resource for finding all kinds of things online. You can find everything from boots and shoes, to the latest video games on the market. The reason you can find so much more here is because ShopWiki.com scours online stores much in the same way as Google crawls the various websites online.

Another really cool thing about this site is that they offer an easy-to-use gift guide that can help you choose just the right gift for the right person or occasion. This section is divided into two different categories, taking all the guess work out of the equation. And with Mother's Day just around the corner, you can get a jump start on the holiday.

If you're looking for a one-stop-shop for all the things you need and want online, I highly recommend ShopWiki.com. A search engine for the super shopper in all of us.

Only A Mother

Only a mother would drive all night,
So her children might have some fun.
Only a mother would stave off fright,
And allow her children to run.

Only a mother will hide her tears,
As her children continue to grow.
Only a mother will face her fears,
As her children press to let go.

Only a mother would wave good-bye,
As her children fly from the nest.
Only a mother can happily cry,
As her children were given the best.

90% Say No To Paris Hilton

This is just a stupid tidbit of information. But, I thought this was interesting enough to want to post about it. Don't ask me why, I just felt that this was somewhat "newsworthy".

I was playing with my StumbleUpon tool bar, looking for something to catch my attention, when I ran across this really cool site called BuzzDash.com. The premise of this site is to show peoples reactions to different questions in real time. Basically, it's a polling site, but there are hundreds upon hundreds of different polls.

I decided to go with the entertainment polls, and was having fun when one popped up that kind of caught my attention. The question was a simple yes or no. It asked that if Paris Hilton was looking for a new best friend in which to do another show with, would you want to be that friend. Including myself, 144 people have so far answered the poll. Amazingly, only 10% said YES. 90% of the people who answered that poll would rather not be her friend.

Now, that right there has to say something about what we find entertaining, or don't. Of course, as I said, only 144 people voted, but I thought it was strange that only 10% of those people said yes. You'd think that it would be the other way around. I can't say much, though. I said no too. LOL

Ok, that's enough of my babbling. Please return to you regularly scheduled blogging duties.
