Yes boys and girls, I have made it home from camp. I had a blast this past week, but I'm so glad to be home.
As the title of this post says, I had to fight off all the little creepy crawlies that the great state of Nebraska has to offer. The mosquitos and ticks were just awful. My perfume of choice for the week was "Deep Woods Off". I've come to the conclusion that the bugs love the smell. LOL. However, it was the little biting flies that I had the most trouble with. No matter how much bug spray I applied, they saw me as a walking salad bar.
I will do several posts on my week at camp, including one on the skit I wrote for my boys. Each year at the end of the week, there is a camp wide campfire and each troop puts on a skit for everyone else. Each year, I write our skit so we can say we did something that no one else did. It's a blast.
We spent the week with another troop from Eastern Nebraska. The first night, we stayed on our own ends of the campsite, but by the end of the second night, both of our troops had teamed up to make one great group of kids. I am now known as "Mama Bear", as I took all the boys from the other troop under my wing.
I am glad to be home again, but I wouldn't have missed this past week for the world. Each year I hate the idea of going, but once I get there, I'm so glad I went. I always learn something new about myself, and about the world of scouting. It just goes to show that you're never to old to learn new ticks, er, I mean tricks.
