A new Christmas carol

Panic

As you've seen in the past, I like to write poetry. Unlike many people in the world today, I still love rhyming poetry. When I first started trying to sell my poetry to online sites, I quickly found out that it was seen as "amateur-ish" and "proof of limited knowledge".

I tried for a long time to acquire the knack for writing poetry that flowed without rhyming. I only wrote one that I felt was actually worth publishing. This is that poem, and I call it "Panic".


A panic rose within my mind, a feverish pitch of fear and rage.

I tried desperately to quiet the unending thoughts of horror that
raced around in blur of atrocities.

The gnawing in my soul warned that all would be lost with no
hope to regain the pleasures of the here and now.

Then a momentary glimmer of faith emerged from the fading mist
of a sidestepped reality.

Quickly, I forced my way through stacks of books thrown from the
shelves in frantic haste and piles of strewn laundry to victoriously
announce that I had found the remote.


Of course, I eventually decided to say bite me and went back to my comfort zone.

The Essence of Friendship

I’m not your friend,
for what you know.
I’m your friend,
for what you show.

or miles apart.
I call you friend,
down in my heart.

Friendships run,

The essence of,
this little rhyme.

I’m proud to say,

The world of silk

Remember Sesame Street? There was a bit they did on nearly every show called "Who are the people in your neighborhood?". From time to time, I'll be checking out the sites of the people in my cyberhood.

One of those people is a super-blogger called Silken. This girl totally amazes me as she runs 10 different blogs. I'm doing good to keep 2 of them going without getting totally lost.

A few of my favorite blogs of hers are Family Night and Rhyme Time. Family night is a great blog about things families can do together. One of the coolest ideas on her site is on bird watching. I would never have thought of that.

Rhyme time is a very creative blog in that every post is done in rhyme. It doesn't matter if she's doing a review of another site, or if she's creating a sponsored post, they're all done in a rhyming scheme. Now that takes some thinking.

Another really cool blog by silken is called "Did you know?". She starts each title with those three little words. I am truly inspired by this woman's creativity.

Mindless Fear

A passionate kiss.
A frightening scream.
At first I thought,
it was merely a dream.

A shot was fired.
A car sped away.
I heard a siren,
and started to pray.

I felt a hand,
glide over my side.
I couldn't move,
though I had tried.

I then heard a voice,
whisper to me.
"It's after midnight,
shut of the T.V."
