I've always been a huge fan of the jewelry from the late 30's through the early 50's. I think it's because I used to spend hours playing with all my grandmother's costume jewelry. Had I known how big vintage pieces would become, I'd have been a whole lot more careful with it. But, I'm starting to see a lot of places that are either selling pieces, or jewelry makers who are creating pieces that resemble those old pieces.
I just found a new giveaway for a gorgeous vintage rose ring. The giveaway site is Mint Green with Envy and I just love the pieces she manages to get for her giveaways. In this giveaway, she's working with the creative genius behind Opus Muse. One of the hundreds of awesome Etsy shops that sell handmade items.
As soon as I saw thing ring, I thought of my grandmother. She was a little Irish woman and she had a style all her own. She wasn't rich, but the lady had class. And this ring just seems to embody her essence. The main entry into this contest involves checking out the whole Opus Muse site and finding something that stands out from the rest to you. Personally, I love the Bermuda Blue Looking Glass necklace. Being a September baby, I have a soft spot for anything that looks like a sapphire.
Head on over to Mint Green With Envy and get in on this giveaway. You have until April 18th before a winner is chosen. You never know, you just might win.

Write On
Over the past several months, I've been doing a lot of writing for other people. I earn a nice little sum as a ghost writer for other people. I'm not rolling in the dough by any means, but I make enough so that when I decide I want a new pair of shoes, I don't have to listen to the hubby complain about it. LOL. He still does, but not because he had to spend any of his money. LOL
Anyway, I've gotten away from writing for the love of the word. I used to write all the time, just because it felt good. The problem is that it hasn't felt good for a very long time. Let me rephrase that. It still feels good to write, but because I write so many articles for others, it's become more like work than something I truly enjoy doing. That's not a good thing. I won't quit writing articles for my other clients, but it's high time I started writing just for me.
I'm a member of a pretty cool site called Gather.com. It's a huge community of other writers, some professional-some not. The thing is that everyone I've met on that site writes just because they love to write. They talk about their families, share recipes, create weekly magazines, and write poetry. I love poetry. So when I saw that there is going to be a daily poetry contest going on, I felt as though they were calling for me to get back to what I love most.
I'm probably going to make a fool out of myself, I usually do. But, sitting around feeling sorry for myself is way more foolish than heading out and trying to do something more with my life. Besides, if I wasn't making a fool out of myself, my friends and family would think that I'd finally flipped out.
If you are a member of Gather.com, of if you decide to join, look me up and I'll add you to my friends list. Oh, and did I mention that if you write enough stuff and earn enough points, you could make some money too??? No, oh, well you can. Haha. Want to know more??? Just check the site out. No, you won't find an affiliate link here. I don't even think they have affiliate links to the site. If they do, I don't know about it. Anyway, if you want a cool place to write-for the fun of it-check out Gather.com. And, if you write enough, you could earn a little extra cash.
