The Last Happy Post

Well, here it is. The last day of August, and the last of my Happy Post Challenges. It's been a pretty good month for me and I've had a lot of things to be happy about.

I wasn't sure what I was going to write about earlier this morning, but then I got a phone call that would make my decision much easier. My boss at my "real" job called this morning to let me know that they were closing for the whole Labor Day weekend. Normally, I would have had a 3 day weekend, but today I was informed to "Enjoy a full 4 days off".

Of course, not having to go to my "other" job doesn't mean that I will be slacking off for the next 4 days. No, I've got way to many things to get done here online. Between getting posts done on my other blogs, getting my posts completed for Garry Conn, and working to get things taken care of with BAO, I'll be busy for days to come.

The other good thing is that tomorrow officially started the Nebraska Cornhusker Football season. Yes boys and girls, Mamma Bear is a die-hard college football fan. I'm not much for professional football, but I love college ball. And being from Nebraska, I have to root for the home team. I get all dressed up in my red and white gear and scream at the tv from kickoff to the last seconds of the game. By tomorrow night, I'll have no voice to speak of, (pun intended), and I'll be bouncing off the walls.

So all in all, this is winding up to be a really great month. Gee, I wonder what we should do for next month. LOL

Another happy post

I am all a twitter. Redhead Rants won't officially be 90 days old until the 13th of September. However, this blog has been approved by SponsoredReviews.com and by Blogsvertiser.com. That means, hopefully, I will be posting sponsored ads here soon.

That being said, let me also state one thing. I will try very hard NOT to inundate everyone with ad after ad. So, for those of you who stop by on a regular basis, I make this solemn vow.

I, Christine Senter, aka The Ranting Redhead, aka Sapheyerblu, aka The Prompt Writer, aka Mamma Bear, do solemnly vow that for every ad I post here on Redhead Rants, I will post one regular post to appear above said ad. I will go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that you, the reader, are not overwhelmed by a series of ad posts that bore you to death. I will make sure all sponsored posts are clearly marked, so if you're not interested, you won't have to pay any attention to said post.

It's always nice to know that there will be a little compensation for what I do. I know I probably won't be buying a new house with my endeavors, but at least I'll be able to order a pizza now and again. LOL

I've submitted the blog to a couple other places, but as of right now, they're still pending. Once my blog is truly 90 days old, I will be submitting to some of the big boys out there. My goal is to have this blog listed with PayPerPost, but all in due time.

Please understand that I'm doing this so my family won't think I do this just for the fun of it. When they see that I'm making a little money, they have a tendency to let me do what it is that I do. Though they really have no clue. LOL

Thanks for stopping by, and remember, life is like a jar of jalapenos. What you do today might burn your butt tomorrow.

New Blogging Conn-test

It's time for another blogging contest. My buddy, Garry Conn is holding a contest to help bring in new traffic for his blog. This is a cool contest as the winner will hold a spot on Garry's sidebar for a full month. Not just a name or a link. Garry will post the winners 10 most recent articles on his site.

The rules are simple. In order to play along, you simply need to write a post about the contest, or place a link to Garry's site in your blogroll. When you place the link, make it look like this:
(this link is only an example) www.garryconn.com/?reader=yournamehere. Choose the name you'd like to use, and make sure you leave a comment so that Garry knows who you are and that you're playing along. For further details, check out the post.

In addition to the sidebar posts, the winner will receive a little money for their efforts, depending on the number of people sent to Garry's site. If the winner sends 1000 people to the site, they'll win $10. 5000 people will earn the winner $20.

This is a win/win contest and will run through September 26th. Come on by, check it out, and see if you can win yourself a spot on Garry's sidebar.

My Heroic Hubby

I'm always bragging about my kids, well this time I'm bragging about my wonderful husband.

My hubby, Jim, is your A-typical macho man. However, no matter how big and bad he trys to be, when it comes to animals, he's a big softy. Yesterday, on his way home from work, the woman in front of him hit a large bird with her car and just kept on driving. My hubby stopped his truck and got out to see if the bird was ok or not. To his surprize, the bird was an adolescent eagle.

So, Jim and one of his co-workers, who was driving behind him, found a large crate and brought the bird home. We tried calling every animal agency we could think of but couldn't find anyone to help with the bird. We tried calling the Game Warden, but he was out of town until Tuesday. We tried calling someone at the local zoo, but all we could get was a recording of their regular hours. We even called the State Patrol, but they couldn't do anything to help either.

So, not wanting to just leave the poor thing to the wilds, Jim called his mom, who's just as big an animal lover. She called her vet and within half an hour, my hubby was on his way to take the bird to the vet.

I'm very proud of my husband. He can watch movies where people are blown to bits and not think twice about it, but let someone injure a helpless animal, and he's ready to rumble. He didn't have to stop for the bird, but I'm very glad he did. The vet is going to help the animal heal and it will be set free.

Now if you will excuse me, I have to go sew a cape for my super-honey.

The Fruit of my Rooms

This is one of my favorite times of year. Being a September baby, I've always been partial to the end of summer/beginning of fall time of year. I love the feel of the air, the fact that the days are beginning to cool off a little, and the best part, my garden is finally producing things to eat.

I grew yellow tomatoes this year. I remember as a kid, my parents grew them and I loved the fact that they were less acidic than the red ones. I'm partial to the yellow cherry tomatoes as I can eat them like most people eat popcorn. I wasn't sure if they were going to do anything or not, as right after we planted them, we had a major wind storm that tore them up pretty bad. However, looking at them now, it seems that the wind storm did them a favor.

It's nice to sit down to dinner and have a salad that is made up of the things you've grown yourself. It somehow makes them taste better, and is a lot easier on the pocketbook. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got more tomatoes to pick. They're beginning to take over. LOL

Spammers need not apply

I just deleted yet another "spam" comment here at Redhead Rants. You know, I really don't understand why people think they can get away with doing that. As soon as comment is left, I get an email letting me know that it's there, so I can come check it out.

So here's the deal. If anyone wants to leave a comment and say, "Hey I just wrote a cool post about my genius kid, and I'd like to have you all come check it out", that's cool. I'll leave it for the world to see.

However, if you leave a comment talking about your latest nudie site, it's a goner. I want this blog to be family and kid friendly. I'm not a perfect person by any means, but I will NOT stand for someone trying to promote their porno site here. If you want to talk about your kids, siblings, grandma, or just how your day went, far out. But if you think I'm going to stand by and let you post disgusting subject material on my blog, you better think again.

Yes, this a rant, but I think I have the right. This is my blog, and I would like to keep it as a place where my cyber-buddies can stop by and have some fun. I'm not a big fan of moderating comments, but if this continues, I will make it so. It isn't fair to my regular readers, but I won't subject them to questionable material.

Ok, I feel better, guess I'd better get some real work done now. Thanks for reading and have a nice day.

Attention Blog Authors

I have a new entry for my happy posts. My buddy Garry and I have created something wonderful and I hope you will all come by and take a look.

Ok, actually, this was Garry's idea, but between the 2 of us, we're going to try and make this into a wonderful thing for all bloggers. I'd like to introduce you all to the Blog Authors Organization. This is going to be a Blog Publishing organization for bloggers who are looking to make some money online by writing and publishing blogs.

Anyone can apply for this, and Garry and I are working on the details right now. Our dream for this venture is to bring blogging to the forefront of online media publications. This venture is still in the works, but we are actively seeking blog authors right now.

The best part about this is that there are a lot of blogs in need of good writers, and there are a lot of writers in need of a place to write. That's where Blog Authors comes in. Also, we are seeking serious inquiries only. We're not looking for stories about your sister's birthday party, but someone who can write about birthday party themes, as an example.

If you would be interested in something like this, let us know, and we'll get you listed. We are designing an application form right now, so as to make it easier for our bloggers. Please remember, that at this time, we're still in the beginning stages of this idea, but we will be rolling it out very soon.

If you're a blog author, this venture is designed with you in mind. For more details, check out Garry's announcement. This could be the beginning of a something wonderful.

Support your favorite bloggers

I'm a firm believer in the fact that we, as a community, need to support each other in whatever way we can. We can offer advise, tell others to stop by and say hi, or we can come right out and tell the world about our favorite bloggers.

As most of you know, I do a lot of work with super-blogger Garry Conn. This man is a wealth of information, and is turning out to be a wonderful mentor. I strongly recommend that everyone visit his site. He offers great tips on blogging, creates some very nice headers for wordpress blogs, and is currently running a site support program for his fellow bloggers.

The site support program is relatively simple. For a small fee of $5 per month, you can have your MyBlogLog or BlogCatalog avatar posted on the sidebar of his blog, with a link back to your site. The best part about it is that Garry's giving the first month out for free. There is no contract to sign, no certain time line to follow, and you can opt out at any given moment. His site currently holds a PR 4, and hundreds of people visit his site daily.

Garry also offers a Wordpress SEO service, where he will help wordpress bloggers improve their blogs and make it easier for search engines to index their posts. Plus, he designs some very nice headers for wordpress blogs. He made one for my new site, and I just love it. I think he did a beautiful job.

There are hundreds of meme trains out there, where we post our links and the links of those we consider friends/collegues/partners, but how often do we talk about our favorite bloggers just because of who they are. I challenge everyone to write one post about your favorite blogger, just for the sheer pleasure of writing.

My happy week in review

Hey Ya'll!! Thought I would jump over here and post something new. I thought I'd try out a good old fashion "Week In Review". Might be fun, might put someone to sleep, but whatever happens, I will talk about it on a future blog. LOL

Ok, let's see what's happened this past week. First of all, last Sunday I was awarded the Schmooze Award from our little Dani Pink. She's got to be one of the neatest ladies I've ever met. I was happier than a catfish in a mudhole over that one. The only award left for me to receive is a Pulitzer and my life is complete.

Then on Monday, I posted a news item about professional wrestler, Brian "Crush" Adams. I wasn't posting it for any reason other than to put the information out there. I used to be a major wrestling fan, and I remember watching this gentleman in the ring. Two days later, I noticed links coming into that post from Google. Someone out there just happened to type in the right keywords in the Google Search box, and my post came up as the #1 page. I just sat there in shock. Who knew.

Wednesday brought in a new era for me. School has started and my house is quiet again. We started rather early this year, but they're going to get more days off during the year than before. I asked my kid's principal why they were starting so early and he said it was because the football players were already there, so they might as well make every one else go too. Yes, I live in a place where major city events are planned around the high school football team.

Thursday was way cool for me, as my cyber-buddy, Garry, helped me set up a whole new blog, called ChristineSenter.com. I'm so excited about this blog that I'm doing backflips in my ergonomic chair. I'm not sure which direction I'm going to take the blog in, but I'm really leaning toward the freelance writing end. Before becoming a blogger, I was a thriving member of the online writing community. I've written a lot of different things throughout the Internet and I'm really thinking about going in that direction again. After all, the first thing they teach you in creative writing, is to write what you know.

Friday, I finally began writing the last 50 posts for Garry Conn. I'm working on one of his latest sites, Celebrity Videos Blog. As soon as I complete this part of the task, I will be receiving yet another blog, PopularBlogger.com. I have big plans for that site, and everyone's invited. I will make a big announcement when it's ready.

And then there's today. I spent the day working on the Celebrity posts. I shut off my messenger and email, and totally focused on what I needed to do. Yesterday, I had written 5 posts for the celebrity blog. Today, I wrote 15 more. After writing 50 posts about fancy cars, this whole celebrity thing is a snap. It's easier to find out where Pamela Anderson buys her groceries, than it is to find out what size motor a Lamborghini carries.

Well, there you have it. That's been my week pretty much summed up. I am really getting into the whole blogging thing. Up until a year ago, I didn't blog much. Now, I'm finding it both relaxing and theraputic. I hope you all have a wonderful evening, and party on, dude!!!!!

Win a month of free advertising

Hey everybody, check this out.

My friend Garry is holding a little contest on his site. It's actually very simple and the winner will receive a month of free advertising on his main blog. The contest is more of a test, than anything else.

Here's the details. Garry has listed 10 questions on his site and the person who gets the most right answers will win. The kicker is that he says that you can get all the answers from the Internet, so it's easy to get all the answers right. Personally, I did it old school. I didn't go look anything up, I just went with my gut instincts. I know I won't win, but what the heck. It's worth a shot.

Go check it out and get in on it quickly, before Garry posts the answers. And tell him Sapheyerblu sent you.

A little dose of happy

This is my happy post for the day. I am an avid reader of good jokes and when I ran across this one, I had to post it. If you have children, or remember being a child, you'll absolutely love this one.

Great Lessons in a Child's Life

1.) No matter how hard you try, you cannot baptize a cat.
2.) When your mom is mad at your dad, don't let her brush your hair.
3.) If your sibling hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the 2nd person.
4.) Never ask your 3-yr old brother to hold a tomato.
5.) You can't trust a dog to watch your food.
6.) Never sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.
7.) Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time.
8.) You can't hide your broccolli in your glass of milk.
9.) Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts.
10.) The best place in the world to be when you're sad, is in Grandma's lap.

Have a great day, ya'll.

Another wrestler down for the count

Another professional wrestler has died. 43 yr. old Brian "Crush" Adams was found by his wife in his bed not breathing. When paramedics arrived on the scene, he was pronounced doa. At this time, the cause of death is not known.

This really bothers me as it's beginning to look as though these people are dropping like flies. I used to watch professional wrestling all the time. First when I was a kid and wrestlers like Dusty Rhodes were larger than life. Then, after I met my hubby, I started watching it again, as he was an avid wrestling fan. That's back in the day when Stone Cold Steve Austin was known as Stunning Steve Austin.

At this time, it doesn't sound like there was any foul play with the gentleman's death, but they really don't know what caused his death. Apparently, Mr. Adams left the wrestling world in 2003 due to a spinal injury, but was he still using steroids? Who knows. It could be just about anything at this point. As soon as new developments come up, I'll be sure to let you know.

Schmoozing, on a Sunday afternoon

I am making this my official happy post for the day. Why??? Cause I have been awarded the Schmoozing Award from my little pink buddy, Danielle. Thanks honey!!!

I would like the thank the blogging academy for this honor. I would also like to thank MyBlogLog for letting me spy on those who visit this site. The keyboard for holding up all these weeks, and of course, I'd like to thank all those who keep coming back for more. LOL

Thanks Dani. This is way too cool for me. Now I just have to think of 5 people to pass this honor along to. HHHMMMMMM, who's it gonna be?????

I think I'm going to do it like Dani and pass them out one at a time.

Tagged Times Two

I think my poor little blog has bruises at the moment. I've been tagged twice in the same week. Once by my little pink buddy, Danielle, and by my favorite tracking agent, Ad Tracker.

I will do two seperate posts for these tags, but had to give them both a shout out for their kindness in thinking of me. Thanks girls.

I haven't been able to do much blogging lately as I'm trying to get my posts done for Mr. Garry Conn. If you recall, we struck a deal earlier this month where I write some posts for his BlogWheels site, and in exchange, he's giving me a new domain name called PopularBlogger.com. Of course, that site isn't live yet, as I've got to finish my end of the bargain first.

However, I was supposed to write 100 posts for the site, but Garry has decided that he would like me to stop at 50 and then write another 50 for another of his blogs. Whatever floats your boat, man. Honestly, I'm just happy that someone else out there likes my writing enough to keep me doing it. LOL

Well, I'd better get my tag posts done. Thanks again girls.

I've been Flashed

Yes boys and girls, I just got done watching the pilot episode of the new sci-fi series, Flash Gordon.

Many years ago, in the late 70's or in the early 80's, someone made a movie called Flash Gordon and being the lover of science fiction that I am, I fell in love with the movie. When I heard that there was a series coming out, I had to watch.

So, here's my take on the first episode of Flash Gordon. The guy they got to play the part of Flash is perfect for the part. I like the way they've written his part, as there's just enough comic relief to make it entertaining, but enough intrigue to make you want more.

The character of Ming the Merciless SUCKS. I'm not at all impressed with the actor they've casted in this part. First of all, Ming should be sinister and menacing, and this guy is neither of those things. Second, he's short. The kind of person you'd see getting his butt kicked on the playground. They really screwed that one up.

The rest of the cast is pretty good. The part of Dale Arden was cast well, as the young woman playing the part is sassy, straight forward, and can carry her own, from what I can tell so far.

For the most part, I think this is going to be a fairly descent show and am looking forward to next Friday so I can see the next episode. If the pilot is any indication of what's to come, I think I'm going to enjoy this one a lot.

Gotta love a good blonde joke

I love a good blonde joke, and for all my blonde cyber-buddies, please note that I KNOW none of you fall into the typical blonde categories. However, I've had a few friends in my life that were truly blonde. I mean, way bad.

Anyway, I just got a new blonde joke in my email and I just had to post it. This is one of the best blonde jokes I've ever heard.

A blonde calls her boyfriend and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get it started.

Her boyfriend asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?"

Blonde says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a tiger."

Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle. She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table.

He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, "First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a tiger." He takes her hand and says, "Second, I want you to relax. let's have a nice cup of tea, and then ......"

He sighed......... "Let's put all the Frosted Flakes back in the box......."

I love it. LOL

That has to be my happy post for the day, cause I laughed myself silly over this one.

A new Christmas carol

I don't know if anyone else has noticed or not, but it seems that Santa Claus has been hanging around different blogs today. So, in his honor, I've written a new Christmas carol sung to the tune of "Santa Claus is coming to town"

You better look out
You better behave
There's a new name to add
As a Technorati fave

Santa Claus is surfing the Net

He's checking out blogs
He's cruising around
He's sneaking right in
Without making a sound

Santa Claus is surfing the Net

He's giving certain bloggers
A little sidebar pic
An early Christmas present
From jolly ole' St. Nick

So, you better blog good
You better blog well
Cause when he'll come again
You just never can tell

Santa Claus is surfing the Net

My daily happy post

I know I should be "selling" cars, but I'm taking a break to post my "happy" things for the day.

Ok, where do I start? Let's see. I learned something today. I've always heard that you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but I really did learn something today. While researching the specs on a lot of the European cars on my list, I realized that they don't use the terms "horsepower" or "foot pounds", no, for their cars, they rate the engine's power in kilowatts and rate the torque in Newtons. I had absolutely NO idea what the heck that was, so I did some extra research and guess what. I now know how to convert newtons into foot pounds and I know how to convert kilowatts into horsepower.

Now I know that most of you out there probably already know how to do this, and I'm one of the few in the world that didn't grasp all this in high school, here's how it's done.
Take the kW number and multiply it by 1.34 and that gives you your horsepower
(kW# x 1.34=hp)
For newton you figure your Nm number and multiply it by 0.7376 and that will give you your foot pounds of pressure.
(Nm# x 0.7376=ft. lbs.)
I also learned how to convert kilometers into miles. Simply take the km number and divide it by 1.609, and you'll have your distance in miles.
(Km# / 1.609=miles)
If my math teacher in high school had made it this easy, I wouldn't have taken 8th grade twice. LOL

Ok, on to something more entertaining. I have a bad habit of checking my google ranking on a nightly basis. I enjoy torturing myself. LOL. Anyway, since the last update, my
other blog had a ranking of 1 out of 10. That was until last night. I checked it again, and it showed that I now have a 0. I totally freaked. I was so upset that I nearly threw a hammer through my monitor. Of course, I didn't, but I was really pissed about it. Well, today, thanks to Brown Baron, I went over to the "iWebTool" site and typed in the address and it showed that my site is still listed at 1 out of 10, and better yet, it predicts that I'll have a PR of 4 on the next update. I'm not going to hold my breath, but I was happy to see that my site didn't backslide and Google didn't blackball me for some reason. Whew!!!

Ok, that's my happy list for the day. I need to get some more articles posted for Garry, but I'm taking it kind of easy today.

Happy Saturday

Happy Saturday to one and all. Yes, it's a happy day and I'll tell you why. I am 25% done with my writing duties for Garry Conn. LOL

Ok, that's not the only reason. Unfortunately, I'm one of those people that suffer from intense migraine headaches and yesterday, I ended up with a whooper. I felt it coming on around 2pm and took 2 Aleve right away, as I usually do. Most times, that stops the headache in it's tracks, but not yesterday. No, within a couple of hours it had gotten much worse. I hurt so bad that I ended up taking 2 more Aleve. Now, don't send me all those messages about how dangerous it is to take that many, trust me, I know. But it was either that or bash myself in the face with a sludgehammer.

I felt bad for another reason too. I couldn't fulfill my daily quota for Garry. Even though he's already told me that I don't have to place a certain amount of articles per day at the site, I still feel obligated. I decided to lay down around 7pm and just relax a little. The next thing I knew, it was 2:30am and I woke up in a panic. Once I figured out that things had been taken care of by my wonderful hubby, I went back to bed and slept until almost 9 this morning feeling much better.

So far today, I've written 15 articles for Garry's site, got 2 posts done at my other blog, and still managed to get this one done. What a happy day. I had a very productive day, and got most of my laundry done on top of everything else. Whoo Hoo!! And if things go the way I think they're going to, tomorrow looks to be an even better.

I do my dance of joy.

This is my official happy post, and boy howdy, it's a doozy. Here's the poop. Last night I was cruising through the sites of my cyber-buddies, as I do every evening. I noticed that Mr. Garry Conn had a new post at his Blogging Tips about Blogging site. In this post, he was announcing that he'd purchased the domain name PopularBlogger.com, and was now selling it for the whopping price of $500. I loved the name, and new instantly that it could be a great blog for my type of blogging.

So, I left a comment saying that if I'd had the money, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, but sadly, there was no way I could afford it. He commented in return, asking me if I was the same Christine Senter that ran the site, The Prompt Writer. Well, yes, that's me and I told him so. That's when the Fates smiled on me and all the angels in Heaven wrapped me in their glow.

It seems that Mr. Conn also runs a site called BlogWheels.com, which reviews all those cars we wish we could afford. You know the ones, the fancy ones, the fast ones, the luxurious ones. Well, we struck a deal that you only read about in the bigwig magazines. If I write 100 short articles, each about a different dream car, he's giving me the domain name. Whoo HOOOO!!!

Now, I'm not talking about 300 to 500 word articles. No, he wants me to write articles of about 125 words each. That's about the same as a nice paragraph. No sweat. He wrote a great post about the whole deal and posted it on his site for the whole world to read and totally made my day. No, make that my whole year.

We IM'd for about an hour, getting all the details of the exchange set. This post is my way of setting my end of the bargain in stone. I'll be posting about 10 articles a day for approx. 10 to 14 days. As far as copyright issues went, I'll be credited for all the articles, but Garry will retain all rights to those articles. In layman terms, I get the glory for writing them, but everything else belongs to him. I even went so far as to say that not even I can reuse those articles without his permission.

In my eyes, Garry Conn is in the same league as John Chow and Darren Rowse. I've been reading Garry's work for several months now, and have learned a lot from him. To have him come to me and make this offer was a dream come true.

So, I'll be up late, working my fingers to the bone to make him proud of the decision he made. I want each of those little articles to be as exciting as the cars they're about. I'll let everyone know when each of the articles is up and running, so come stop by and check them out. Garry has posted 4 articles already, so I know what he's looking for and can work from that. I've been married to a car guy for 17 years, so that's not going to be a problem.

So, now I must go do my dance of joy and get motivated. I already have a list of about 60 cars, and need to find 40 more. The research behind it will be the hardest part, but that's ok as I'm a research junkie. LOL

Be Happy in August

I was reading recent posts by all my cyber-buddies out there and ran across another really cool post by ChattyKat. The original post comes from Big Orange Michael and it's a challenge for the month of August.

It's called the August Happiness Challenge, and I'm totally up for this one. Basically, for those involved, you simply post "happy moments" throughout the month. It doesn't have to be on a daily basis, but if you really want to challenge yourself, give it a shot.

If you want to join in, just leave Michael a comment letting him know, and leave one here as well. This isn't a link train or a meme, it's just a way to spread a little happiness across the blogosphere.

This is actually my first official post for the month, even though I've had a really crappy day. Yet, just finding these posts brightened my day a little more. Another really cool thing that happened today was that my friend Matt finally launched his newest endeavor, BlogMarketPlace. I'm pretty proud of him.

Anyway, whenever you find a shining moment in your day, do a little post about it and let's see just how much happiness we can create in a month. I'm up for the challenge, are you???
