Tag, I'm it!!!

My buddy Silken tagged me the other day and asked me to play along in the 7 Random Things game. My only problem is that I don't know if I know that many others who would want to play along, but we're going to give it a shot and share some of my writing buddies with you.

Ok, the rules of this game seem easy enough, but let's see. Each person tagged needs to write a post of 7 random facts about themselves, and the rules to this game. Then, you tag 7 other bloggers and leave a comment with them, letting them know that they've been tagged.

So, here goes:

7 random facts about Sapheyerblu

1.) My other persona is thepromptwriter

2.) I've written an e-book titled "Written Promptly Everyday" that offers 365 different writing prompts.

3.) I'm a huge ancient history buff

4.) I'm the youngest of 3 girls (and the smartest, lol)

5.) I met my husband on a fishing trip with my dad.

6.) I stole my mother's car when I was 13 and drove it into a neighbor's tree

7.) I've wanted to be a professional writer since I was in grade school.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, those are my random facts. Now, I have to find 7 people to tag. I just hope I know that many bloggers. LOL
Well, first and foremost, I have to tag my si-ber buddy, AussieSire. Everything I've achieved as a blogger, I credit to him. He's been my inspiration for quite some time now.
I also have to tag my newest cyber-buddy, Danielle. This lady has some big plans for her blog, and I want to do whatever I can to help her out.
In the number 3 spot, I'd like to introduce the world to a friend of mine who runs one of the funniest blog out there. NayNay is a hoot.
I'm also going to add my friend, Matt. He probably won't play the game, but that's ok. This is just my way of letting him know how much I appreciate all the help he's given me.
Number 5 is another blogging buddy called Manodogs. This guy's got the rundown on just about everything.
I'm also adding a beautiful woman who's been a friend of mine for several years now is one of the best poets I've had the pleasure of meeting. Love ya Lorna Lou!!!
And finally, I have to put in Michy. This girl has one the best outlooks on life I've encountered.
Wow, I know more people than I thought I did. LOL
Say a prayer for me
Now, don't get to freaked out. I'm not injured, my mother's not sick, and my children are in their respective rooms. No, I need prayers for a whole different reason. I'm getting ready to go to Boy Scout camp. Seven fun filled days with several hundred teen-aged boys who are allowed to play with fire and sharp instruments. AAAARRRRGGGGG!!!
Keep in mind, I'm not the only female scout leader at camp. There are actually quite a few of us. Many of these women are very good at what they do and I bow down to their abilities.
I usually have as much fun as the boys, and have learned a lot of things about life, and about myself. My favorite part of camp is when I first get there and meet a large, male scout master for the first time. I'm smaller than most of the kids there, and don't look as though I could whip my way out of a wet paper bag. However, by the time camp's over, those same men and shaking my hand and patting me on the back. It's awesome.
I'm not the kind of person who sits by the sidelines and watches what's going on around me. No, I'm the kind of person who gets out there and dives in with both feet, not worrying about what will happen. A couple years back, I brought home some lovely parting gifts. I had bruises on both arms and one of my legs and they were the prettiest shades of eewww.
Just pray that I don't trip over my own two feet and break my arm. Pray that I don't end up at camp and realize that I've forgotten something we really needed. Pray that the weather cooporates with us this year. And finally, pray that counselors survive my little troop of wayward children again this year.
It's going to be a long week.
Let's give it a shot
I've seen this done on a few other sites and have decided to give it a try here. I figure that it can't hurt and if it works, we'll all be better off.
Here's how this works:
Below is a matrix of 120 stars, I have already added a link to my blog onto one of the stars, all you need to do is copy and paste the grid into your blog and add your own link to one of the other spare stars, and tell others to do the same!
Well, hopefully I've done this right and should see a bit of a rise in my Technorati ranks. We'll see!?!
Fund Raising Idea
All youth organizations need some way to fund their activities. There are a lot of companies that offer things for these organizations to sell, but nearly all of them require money up front before the actually selling begins.
As a Scout leader, I’ve found a way for my troop to earn some money without spending a small fortune in the beginning. Last year, we held a rummage sale. I had the kids ask their families and friends if they had any unwanted items that they would be willing to donate and was astonished at the response. People cleaned out their closets and basements and donated everything.
The only cost to us was the price of placing a small ad in the local newspaper. We made all the flyers by hand and placed them in shop windows and bulletin boards. The kids made sure that they told everyone they knew what we were doing and it was a great turnout. Every penny we made went into the troop’s account and the kids were able to have an enjoyable time at summer camp.
This fund raiser had very little cost and big rewards. It was easy to set up, as all donations were delivered and everything left over at the end was donated to another charity.
Si-berville
It’s time to take another stroll down the virtual streets of the cyberhood and stop in at an old friend’s site. Welcome to the kingdom of AussieSire.
This Aussie bloke is one of the coolest people I’ve ever had the pleasure to befriend. He runs several blogs on making money online, but he adds his own unique twist to each site.
BlogSire is probably his best work to date. There is a lot of great information here, as well as a wide variety of sponsored posts. This is a true endeavor in earning a living from home.
One of his first sites was a blog titled "Well Blog Me" and is an eclectic collection of sponsored posts, political rants, and news items, with a few jokes thrown in just to make it interesting.
AussieSire is more than just your run-of-the-mill blogger. His sense of humor helps him create some of the best posts on the net. Stop by one of his sites and tell him I said hey!!
Who's to blame???
This will be my first official rant and I'm both pissed and confused at the same time. I heard something today that I just couldn't believe. I was cruising through the news channels when I came across Nancy Grace's show and her topic pissed me off.
Apparently, last month in Los Angeles, CA, a woman was taken to the hospital and ended up dying because nobody would do anything for her. This woman had been to the hospital earlier in the week and was sent home. On the day in question, she showed up complaining of abdominal pain.
Apparently, once inside the ER, she fell out of the wheel chair onto the floor and curled up into the fetus position. She then began vomiting blood and the nurses did nothing to help her. They did, however, send a janitor in to clean up the mess. There is a video of the janitor cleaning up the blood, while this woman was still lying on the floor.
The woman's husband went outside to find a payphone and called 911 to seek help. The 911 operator decided that nothing was wrong and did nothing to help this woman either. A total stranger also called 911 about the situation and was repremanded by the 911 operator for making a call of this type to a place that was for emergency calls only.
Ok, now maybe I can see the point of the first operator. I'm sure that person wasn't sure what to do as the person was already in the hospital, but was it really neccessary for the second one to get snippy with the stranger who was only trying to help her fellow human??
The worst part about this story is that the lady died right there on the ER floor. It was later discovered that she had a perforated bowel and that she could have been saved. The media was placing blame on the 911 operators, but my question is, "Where the hell was the medical staff"??? I'm no doctor, but isn't there something in the hypocratic oath about checking on somebody that has blood spewing from their face?
The other thing that has me asking questions is the fact that this woman was hispanic. According to one report I heard today was that this all began when the police were called to the hospital and tried to arrest the woman on a probation violation charge. I'm not sure how it all ties in as this was one of those news programs where everyone tries to get their point across at the same time and you can't really understand any of them.
Who's to blame???
The world of silk
Remember Sesame Street? There was a bit they did on nearly every show called "Who are the people in your neighborhood?". From time to time, I'll be checking out the sites of the people in my cyberhood.
One of those people is a super-blogger called Silken. This girl totally amazes me as she runs 10 different blogs. I'm doing good to keep 2 of them going without getting totally lost.
A few of my favorite blogs of hers are Family Night and Rhyme Time. Family night is a great blog about things families can do together. One of the coolest ideas on her site is on bird watching. I would never have thought of that.
Rhyme time is a very creative blog in that every post is done in rhyme. It doesn't matter if she's doing a review of another site, or if she's creating a sponsored post, they're all done in a rhyming scheme. Now that takes some thinking.
Another really cool blog by silken is called "Did you know?". She starts each title with those three little words. I am truly inspired by this woman's creativity.
If you'd like to visit these, or any of her other sites, you can check out her little corner of the MyBlogLog world. I highly recommend everyone stop by and visit the world of silk.
Who is Sapheyerblu
Though I've been writing on the Internet for nearly 10 years now, the person I am in life and the person I am online seem to be completely different people. So, I thought I'd tell the world just who I really am.
My real name is Christine and I've been writing for most of my life. My very first writing endeavor happened when I was in the 4th grade. The assignment was to write something based around our names, and at that time my last name was Wickwire. So, I created a burgler alarm that used 100 feet of candle wick and 100 feet of barbed wire. I received an A on the assignment, but more than that, I developed a love of writing.
Skip ahead almost 10 years and we come to the point where I met the man that would become my husband. We began dating in late 1987 and married in May of 1990. We had two wonderful kids who are now 16 and 13. I kept writing, but computers were still a very expensive item and found mainly in offices and schools. I typed all my work out on an old 1950's manual typewriter. If nothing else, it was a good workout for my fingers. LOL
I had my first poem published in a poetry chapbook in 1993. That was all it took for me to decide that writing was what I really wanted to do, but I couldn't afford to take any classes so I started reading everything I could about the publishing industry.
In 1997, we finally got our first computer. I had no idea what I was doing, so I locked myself in my bedroom and learned as much as possible from the Internet. Within a few weeks, I was building my first website, though it was primative at best. I kept writing and found a place for beginners. The instructor's name was Shery Ma Belle Arrieta, who also ran a website called The E-Writer's Place. Within a year, I was writing a column for the site called The Write Sites, where I reviewed different sites for writers.
I also became a content provider for a site called Webseed. My first site there was called Finding The Father and was based on finding God in the modern world. Later that same year, I started another site called PlantLore, which focused on the histories, mysteries, and mythologies of the plant kingdom. Unfortunately, Webseed went under and I lost both sites. It was a great learning experience, though.
I continued to write stories and poetry for different websites for the next couple of years, then in 2004 I started a new website and newsletter called The Prompt Writer, where I offered ideas for writers in an array of categories. I'm still working on that, though I don't update nearly as often as I should.
Today, I still work on The Prompt Writer, as well as my other blog The Sapheyerblu Review, which reviews the various ways of earning money online. I feel at home when I'm writing, no matter what it's about. I love being able to put ideas across to the world, and still get to watch my kids grow. This is the life.
I love a good contest
I'm a sucker for a good contest and I've just found one that fits right in. The contest is offered through a blog called Romance Tracker that is filled with some very romantic ideas. Even without the contest, this is a great blog and anyone who is in any kind of relationship should check it out.
Anyway, as for the contest, it's simple. If you subscribe to Romance Tracker's RSS feed, you need only send him a message and you're in. If you're a blogger, he simply asks that you write a little post about his site and contest in order to be eligable.
As I said before, even without the contest, this is a great blog. The site's author, Phil Van Treuren, offers tons of different romatic ideas that will keep the spark alive whether you've only been dating for a short time, or married for several years.
Stop by Romance Tracker for the contest, but stick around for the love.
Mindless Fear
A passionate kiss.
A frightening scream.
At first I thought,
it was merely a dream.
A shot was fired.
A car sped away.
I heard a siren,
and started to pray.
I felt a hand,
glide over my side.
I couldn't move,
though I had tried.
I then heard a voice,
whisper to me.
"It's after midnight,
shut of the T.V."
Daddy's Lilies
This is a picture of my Daddy's Lilies.
My dad passed away 2 years ago and this was one of the plants that had been sent to the funeral home. I later found out that it was sent by my best friend, so my mom decided that I should take it home.
I planted it in my front flower bed, but it quickly withered to almost nothing. I hoped for the best, but last year, it didn't do anything. I thought it had decided to go be with my dad in that big flower bed in the sky.
This spring, while getting all the dead things out of the flower beds, I noticed that it was coming up again. I didn't get my hopes up, but was happy to see that it was going to give it one more chance. I was thrilled to see that it not only tried again, but it flourished. Then today, it finally bloomed.
I had to post this picture as it is a testament to the fact that things can always turn out for the better if you only give it a chance.
Staking my claim
Yes boys and girls, it's that time again when I come along and post my Technorati Profile so that I can try and make a few new friends and watch those little numbers ebb and flow as time marches on.
This is a test, this is only a test. Had this been a real blog, you would still be reading.
And remember, live long enough to annoy your children.
Teaching an old dog new tricks
Ok, so I'm trying to add all these cool features to this blog when it dawned on me that I don't have a clue as to what the hell I'm doing. I'm too old to be trying to figure out all this techno stuff on my own, or am I?
Believe it or not, I figured it out all by myself. I didn't have to go get any of my kids to do it for me or nothing. LOL
I'm so happy to have a place to just play again. I love my other blog, The Sapheyerblu Review, but that is strictly for site reviews and nothing more. This little chunk of cyberspace is for me and me alone.
Oh, wait. There might be a problem. You are all going to find out what a flake I really am. Oh well, guess it's time to tell the truth. You have all been warned, this woman is not in her right mind. LOL
Ok, off to do something destructive, I mean, constructive.
Starting Over
This is just a place for me to let off some steam. There are so many things going on in this world that it's about time I just said what was on my mind.
There will be posts about celebrities, motherhood, marriage, and whatever else is getting under my skin. This will be a place for me to have some fun. Whoo Hoo
Look out world, Sapheyerblu is on the loose.
